Carro Migration FAQ

Edited

Carro's legacy application will be sunsetting, continuing into the Carro universe will mean replatforming to our new system: Carro, powering Modern Dropship.

What is the link to install Carro | Modern Dropship?

Click here to access the Shopify app store to download our new platform!

Where is the Carro | Modern Dropship help center?

Please refer to the Help Center for a full overview of all things Carro | Modern Dropship.

What if I am both a Retailer and a Supplier in Carro?

In Modern Dropship, accounts can be either a Retailer or a Supplier, but not both. We recommend onboarding under the account type that is most financially beneficial for your business. At this time, there are no plans to support dual Retailer and Supplier accounts on the platform.

How am I billed as a Retailer if I move to the new platform?

Retailer billing will continue through Shopify as it works today until the legacy app is sunset. After that point, billing will be replicated on the new platform.

I am a Retailer, and I need to invite Suppliers to work with me on the new platform. How do I find their email addresses?

Suppliers can be invited by email. All Supplier email addresses are available in your Carro dashboard under the Partners tab. Click the down caret next to a Supplier to view their full contact information.

We can also export a list of your existing Supplier contacts to assist with invitations. We recommend starting with brands you have previously worked with and generated sales from.

I am a Retailer and need support with onboarding. Will that be offered?

Yes. Retailers may email support@getcarro.com for onboarding assistance. Most onboarding steps are self-service. White-glove onboarding is reserved for Enterprise and Enterprise Plus brands.

Please refer to the Help Center for guidance. During the migration period, email responses may take up to 72 hours due to increased volume.

What happens if my Suppliers do not migrate?

If Suppliers do not migrate before the legacy platform shuts down on April 1, you will not be able to continue generating sales with them through Carro beyond that date. We strongly recommend coordinating migration timelines with your partners.

Will my revenue earnings stay the same after migrating?

Suppliers will have additional controls in the new platform that allow them to create specific revenue splits at the product level if needed. However, we recommend keeping existing revenue splits consistent unless changes have been discussed and agreed upon with your partner.

What happens to active orders during the transition?

Active orders placed prior to migration will continue to process in the legacy platform. However, after the sunset date, no new orders will be supported on the legacy system.

Do I need to reinstall or reconnect Shopify?

Yes. Retailers will need to install and connect to the new platform to begin operating in Modern Dropship. This ensures orders, billing, and integrations function properly.

Does it cost anything to be a Supplier on the new Carro platform?

Nope! Supplier accounts remain free of any subscription charge on the new platform.

I am a Supplier. Should I onboard to the new Carro platform without my Retailer?

Yes, Suppliers may onboard independently. However, the open brand discovery marketplace is not yet available on the new platform and will be released at a later date. The new Carro dashboard is primarily driven by Retailers inviting and onboarding their Suppliers.

I am a Supplier. Will I still be paid out in the same way?

Yes. Suppliers can reconnect their existing Stripe account on the new platform to continue receiving payouts as they do today.

When will the open brand discovery marketplace become available?

The open brand discovery marketplace is not yet available on the new platform. It is expected to be released later this year. Until then, Supplier growth will primarily come from Retailer invitations.

Can I change my account type later?

At this time, accounts must be set up as either a Retailer or a Supplier. If you need to change your account type in the future, please contact support@getcarro.com for more information.

What if I cannot migrate before the sunset date?

You may onboard to the new platform on a timeline that fits your business needs. However, the current Carro platform will be shut down on April 1st. If you have not migrated by that date, you may lose the ability to continue selling with your Suppliers beyond that point. We highly recommend migrating before the sunset date if at all possible.

What happens to my existing partnerships during migration?

Existing partnerships will not automatically migrate to the new platform. Retailers will need to invite their Suppliers to connect in Modern Dropship. We recommend beginning with Suppliers you have active sales with to avoid disruption.

Will my historical order data transfer to the new platform?

Historical data from the legacy platform will not transfer into the new dashboard. We recommend exporting any reports you would like to retain prior to the sunset date.

As a Retailer, how do I cleanly switch from my legacy PDP listings to the New Carro PDP listings?

  • Step 1: Connect & Verify  Ensure your Shopify store is connected to the new MD platform and the supplier has assigned you a Price List.

  • Step 2: Publish New Listings Import and publish the new Product Detail Pages (PDPs) from the Modern Dropship tab.

  • Step 3: Identify Legacy Products Go to your Shopify Product admin. Your Legacy (old) products can be identified by:

    • The Collection: They are all currently nested in the "Carro Brand Partnerships" collection.

    • The SKU: They will contain a "carro-sku" identifier in the SKU field.

  • Step 4: The "Safe Swap"  Once your new MD products are live and verified (check mapping and inventory), you can safely Archive or Delete the listings found in that specific "Carro Brand Partnerships" collection.

Pro-Tip: We recommend Archiving the legacy listings first rather than deleting them immediately. This allows you to double-check that your new listings are performing correctly without losing any historical data.

We recommend testing a small number of products first to confirm everything is working properly before fully transitioning. If you have hesitation around this process please email support, please contact support@getcarro.com for more information.
