Adding a New Supplier to a Shipping Profile (Required for Checkout to Work)

Edited

When you import a product from Modern Dropship, Shopify may create a new fulfillment location for that supplier.
If that location is not added to your shipping profile, the product will not be purchasable.

  • This setup must be completed each time you add a product from a new supplier.

  • Shopify requires every fulfillment location in a shipping profile to have shipping rates assigned.

  • Locations without rates appear under Not shipping from these locations and will block checkout.

  • At checkout, the item may show as cannot be shipped or out of stock, even though inventory exists.

To make the product fully shoppable, the supplier location must be added to the shipping profile and assigned shipping rates.

Step 1: Open Shipping Profiles

  1. In Shopify admin, go to
    Settings → Shipping and delivery

  2. Click the shipping profile you use for Modern Dropship product

Step 2: Find the new supplier location

Scroll down to: Not shipping from these locations

You will see the new supplier listed there.

Example:

  • ModernDropship supplier name

  • App location

This means no shipping rates exist yet.

Step 3: Add rates for the supplier

  1. Click Add rates next to the supplier

  2. Select one of the following:

  • Create new rate

  • Use rates from another location

Shopify allows either option when adding rates to a new fulfillment location.

Step 4 : Create a shipping zone

  1. Enter a zone name
    Example:
    Modern Dropship Suppliers

  2. Select the regions you ship to
    Example:

    • North America

    • United States

    • Canada

  3. Click Done

Shipping zones define where products can be shipped.

Step 5: Add a shipping rate

  1. Set Rate type → Flat rate

  2. Enter a name
    Example:
    Express (1–2 business days)

  3. Enter price
    Example:
    0.00 for free shipping
    or your standard shipping price

  4. Click Done

  5. Click Save

Each location must have at least one rate for checkout to work.

Step 6: Confirm the supplier moved out of “Not shipping from”

After saving, the supplier should no longer appear under:

Not shipping from these locations

If it is still there, rates were not saved correctly.

Important FAQs

  • This must be done once per supplier

  • You do not need to repeat it for every product

  • Only required when a new supplier appears

Shopify automatically adds new app locations but does not always assign shipping rates, which must be configured manually.
